The newly formed NGO, DomDom_ The Hub For Experimental Art&Music by Kim Ngoc_ in collaboration with Vietnam Academy of Music, Malmoe Academy of Music and ensemble Ars Nova from Sweden offering upcoming artists a chance to explore their creative potential. From April 2013 three internationally recognized programs: Electronic Acoustic Music (EAM); Ensemble for Contemporary Music (ECM); and Improvisation are taught by international leaders in their respected fields. This unique chance to create and perform in an international environment is not to be missed!

ELECTRONIC MUSIC COURSE

Teachers: the class taught by the renowned professor of the Malmoe Music Academy Henrik Frisk.

Duration: 3 phases:
– Phase 1: from 02/04/2013 until 16/04/2013 (morning& afternoon)
– Phase 2: from 22/06/2013 until 03/07/2013 (morning& afternoon)
– Phase 3: from 22/08/2013 until 05/09/2013 (morning& afternoon)
Objectives
• Get a basic understanding of the tools for EAM (software, hardware and information) and the means for its production in different genres of music. Having knowledge about the different aspects and modes of EAM
• Get a rudimentary repertoire knowledge and insight into the important stages of development in EAM. The aesthetics of EAM
• Get a basic knowledge of signal processing techniques such as filtering, modulation and frequency domain processing and synthesis.
• Knowledge about and ability to construct and play instruments for EAM. Able to perform a part in an ensemble, score based, improvised and composing.
Requirements
● A rudimentary understanding of English is a plus(courses will be translated)
● A rudimentary understanding of electronic music practices
● A laptop computer to be used in the course with a working soundcard (the user has to have privileges to install software on it as software will be provided in the course)
● Good computer knowledge and preferred experience with electronic music
● Upon 15 years old
● Committed applicant (100% attending to the course)

ENSEMBLE FOR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC COURSE 

The course will be held by members of the Swedish Ensemble Ars Nova which is one of the leading new music ensembles in Sweden since 1986: Dr. Stefan Östersjö (guitar), Terje Thiwång (flute), Markus Falkbring (viola) and their long term Vietnamese collaborators from Vietnam Academy of Music, Nguyen Thanh Thuy (tranh- the16- string zither) and Ngo Tra My (Bau- the mono chord).

Duration
2 phases:
• Phase 1: from 04/04/2013 until 18/04/2013 (morning& afternoon)
• Phase 2: from 22/08/2013 until 05/09/2013 (morning& afternoon)

Objectives
• Get a rudimentary repertoire knowledge
• Get a rudimentary repertoire knowledge and understanding of the aesthetics of experimental music
• Get a rudimentary understanding of new kinds of notation

Expanded instrumental expertise and rudimentary understanding of the interaction with other musicians in contemporary music as well as with electronic media

Requirements
● A rudimentary understanding of English is a plus (courses will be translated)
● A qualified level of performance on classical Western instruments or traditional instruments of Vietnam and ability to read staff notation is required. Experience in chamber music playing and of Western contemporary art music is a plus but not necessary.

Ensembles can register jointly

IMPROVISATION

The course will be conducted by well-known local composer/improviser Tran Thi Kim Ngoc and famous improviser/ teacher from Copenhagen conservatory Lotte Anker as well as Scandinavian leading improviser in computer music field Jakob Riis.

Duration
• Weekly class by Kim Ngoc starting from the 20/05/2013 – two hours/week except national holyday- last for 30 weeks.
• Workshop conducted by Lotte Anker: 20/5/2013-25/05/2013 (morning& afternoon)
• Workshop conducted Jakob Riis: 30/09/2013- 05/10/2013 (morning& afternoon)
• Conclusion concert: 06/10/2013

Objectives
Improvisation music has become a radical part of contemporary music since 20century as basic skills to express, as well as fastest practical method to approach philosophy and aesthetic of our time’s art culture. With this course, we aim to:

• Give the participants a chance to experiment with innovative methods of practicing music.
• By improvisation practicing, input the music structure and esthetic of contemporary experimental music to the participants. Thus enhance self- reveal capacity and build-up proactive creativity and independence through developing sound -conversational skill.

Requirements
All music students studying in secondary and graduation lever of music institution/ colleges; All young musicians/composers who are practicing in contemporary/ experimental music field (graduate or postgraduate degree or no degree); all young artists practicing in all other art fields but using sound as tool/mean/materials/aim to express would apply to this long time workshop.
